Forget Your Smart Phone Get Some Smart Eyes

As useful as your smartphone may be, lets face it, the way technology moves forward, they are already a thing of the past. In the not so distant future you will be able to Ditch Your Smart Phone And Get Some Smart Eyes.

The new product that looks like a contact lenses but is built with very small circuits and LEDs, promises to give us all Smart Eyes. Prototypes are already being built and in just a few years this could be a reality. Essentially we will have the power of a mini computer that requires no hands and the display follows you wherever you look.

This sounds like a great idea but I think the largest hurdle will be making a contact lens with these features that is actually comfortable to wear, otherwise they will have a very small market of just geeks like me that want to have terminator vision.

Go Grocery Shopping While You Wait For The Subway

The Virtual Supermarket

So much time is spent waiting in life. Waiting in lines, waiting in traffic or waiting for public transit. What if you could make that time useful? Well tesco supermarket of Korea has taken that idea and put it into practice. In a unusual display of corporate brilliance they have changed subway ads into printed replicas of a supermarket display. Using a phone application and a QR code, shoppers can add an item to their online shopping cart, complete the transaction and have the items delivered to their homes.

This not only saves you from unproductive waiting but it will save you a trip to the market and save you yet another wait in line to checkout. I hope this catches on in the USA soon though the logistics of having your food delivered to your home in a larger country will certainly present a challenge. Though that challenge may halt a system like this being expanded nationwide cities would certainly seem like areas ready for this future today.

Thomas Frey; The Futurist Speaker

Thomas Frey

I often find myself thinking about the future. Sometimes these thoughts are confined to personal future scenarios and life planning but just as often I like to think about a bigger picture and the world we will someday live in. What will this world hold in store for us?

Well, Thomas Frey has made a career out of doing just that and has taken that a step farther by putting his thoughts on the net. To say I enjoyed my time over at Futurist Speaker would clearly be an understatement. I discovered the Futurist Speaker Blog by clicking on a link I found in a forum I often frequent. Expecting to simply read in entirety, an article that was submitted, I soon found myself spending the rest of the night and the majority of the next morning immersed by Thomas Frey's vision of the future. His future I find as bold, reality based, entertaining and more than anything else, highly likely.

Thomas Frey doesn't confine himself to robot maids and self driving cars (though they are certainly on the menu). Rather his version of the future is as wide ranging as the world we live in today. He speaks on the future of Retail Shopping as easily as he does the possible Job Market for the year 2030 or the developing new energy market of Micro Grids that will require the dismantling of our current energy infrastructure.
